The game creators are using the original games Assassin’s Creed 1 and the Ezio trilogy as inspiration for the game to go “back to basics.”. Focus on the three pillars; stealth, parkour, and assassinations. A more narrative driven approach to progression and a more contained map to explore. Basically you can just take on 20 people at once like you could in the previous games, easily dodge, block, parry every attack thrown at you with ease. In this AC the combats more technical and you have to take your time with it. Hope this helps! To block weapon swings in the game you have to hold two shoulder buttons to parry (L1+R1 on a PS4 pad, LB+RB on Xbox). The “Parry” move is extremely useful as it gives you an opening to attack
The Storm blades have insta-charge and you can still block and parry the same. If you use the shield with 'health on parry' and learn to parry well, along with all of the combat abilities, the dual blades can be useful. I also use the cursed spear as back up if I'm overwhelmed. true.

I find Valhalla's combat to be slow and clunky.
This should also work for AC: Odyssey. Create a non-Steam game shortcut named Assassin's Creed Origins, then click the link above and import the config into Steam. Then go into Steam's library window, right-click the shortcut and choose "Edit Steam Controller Configuration" and export the active config (which should now be the one I shared) and
Combat kinda sucks, yeah. I'm not a fan of the "wait to parry" approach, especially since that integral part of combat had become so amazingly loose you barely had to time it. The fact that you can no longer OHKO most enemies with a single button isn't a thing I hate about the combat here. Climbing?
